ONE OF Dermot Kennedy’s youngest fans is gearing up for his first ever concert in Limerick.
Iarla Curran, who lives in Adare, has been a massive fan of the Dublin singer ever since he saw him perform on The Late Late Toy Show in 2020.
“We’ve been fans for the last few years and Iarla first saw him on the Late Late Show and he was mesmerised by him, him playing with a young kid as well, and thinking it could be him as well, so we are really looking forward to it,” his Dad Martin explained.
When asked about his favourite song the 6-year-old said “Giants” which was taken from Dermot’s 2019 album, Without Fear.
The Curran family moved to the quaint Limerick village two and a half years ago having spent some time in Perth, Australia.
“It was really hot, we couldn’t go outside without a hat in our school,” Iarla added from his time Down Under as the rain came down at the playground by Manor Fields Adare while also explaining to the Limerick Leader that he hopes it doesn’t rain for his first concert and visit to Thomond Park Stadium.
While ears will be focused on the singing on Friday night, eyes will be glued to the television screen on Saturday as Limerick take on Galway in the Hurling All-Ireland Semi-Final.
“I want Galway to win because lots of my families from it,” the young hurling fan explained but added that local “Declan Hannon” is his favourite hurler.
Dermot Kennedy takes to the stage in the rugby stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
At 31 years of age, he has enjoyed phenomenal success worldwide with hits such as Power Over Me, Outnumbered and more recently Kiss Me from his latest album, Sonder.
He will be supported across the weekend by Limerick band Kingfishr, Kildare native Nell Mescal and Cork soloist, Cian Ducrot.
