LIMERICK legend Tom McNamara has been inducted into the Limerick Person of the Year Hall of Fame.
Back in 2019 at the Limerick Person of the Year awards, the first person was inducted into the Limerick Person of the Year Hall of Fame.
The first inductee was none other than the late Dolores O’Riordan who was acknowledged for her stellar international music career with Limerick rock band The Cranberries.
This year, Ireland's oldest busker, Tom McNamara, has joined music royalty in the Hall of Fame.
Tom is a well-known figure on the streets of Limerick city and has filled the air with the sounds of his accordion for over 20 years.
In 2021, Tom was on the lookout for a new instrument after his accordion ran into some trouble and after his story was highlighted by the Limerick Leader, he was gifted a new accordion by Italian constructors Pasco Italia.
Tom was inducted into the Hall of the Fame at the Limerick Person of the Year awards which were held on Thursday at the Clayton hotel.
The 85 year-old accepted the award along with a framed painting of himself and a book about his life.
The Limerick Person of the Year 2021, Padraig O'Callaghan was delighted to present Tom with his award.
The JP McManus Pro-Am committee were the overall winners of the Limerick Person of the Year 2022 for their incredible work organising the charity golf tournament.
