THE ELECTION in Limerick City is heading for a grandstand finish as we head into the ninth count.
High-profile Independent councillor Frankie Daly has been eliminated, and his votes of 2,677 are being distributed.
Previous to that, we saw arguably the most high-profile casualty of this election, with Green TD Brian Leddin losing his seat.

He transferred 558 votes to Labour councillor Conor Sheehan, and 376 to Cllr Elisa O'Donovan of the Social Democrats, who remains in the driving seat to win the final place in Limerick.
She is 276 votes clear of Cllr Sheahan, and 603 ahead of Fianna Fail's Dee Ryan.
The next few eliminations and transfers are going to be vital. Will Cllr Daly transfer to his northside council colleague?
