WATCH:Newcastle West's Mike McMahon:'It just showed a bit of resilience that we have built up over the years'

Newcastle West defeated Mungret St Paul's 0-20 to 2-13 on Friday evening

"It was good to dig it out near the end. It just showed a bit of resilience that we have built up over the years as a squad. We've few new lads coming in and I thought they slipped in seamlessly. We've three or four lads making their first championship starts, the jersey is there's now and it's up to the lads coming back now to put the hand up when they come back," said Newcastle West's Mike McMahon.

Newcastle West defeated Mungret St Paul's 0-20 to 2-13 in the opening round of the Limerick senior football championship on Friday evening in the Adare GAA Grounds.

An injury-time point from wing-back Aaron Neville proved decisive as Newcastle West held firm during a frantic finale to seal a narrow victory.
