ADARE got their Limerick Senior Football Championship campaign off to a winning start with a 2-04 to 1-13 victory over Monaleen at Mungret St Pauls.
It was Monaleen who were quickest out of the traps racing into a 1-01 - 0-00 after seven minutes with their goal coming from Paul O'Shea.
Last year's county finalists regrouped and hit the next seven points in a row to have leading 1-01 - 0-07 at the break. Jeffrey Alfred and Michael O'Mahony were on target from the placed along with the lively Mikey Lyons chipping in with two points from play had Glesson's charges leading.
A goal from Limerick senior footballer Joe Sweeney gave Adare some breathing space on 38 minutes when they led 1-09 to 1-02.
A goal from Niall Loughran gave Monaleen some hope but the victors kept the scoreboard ticking and hung on for a six point victory.
Adare face Mungret St Pauls in round two of the Limerick SFC on Thursday July 4 at 7:30pm.
