THE Limerick senior footballers have advanced to the preliminary quarter-final of the Tailteann Cup where they will face Tipperary on Saturday June 2 at 4pm in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale.
Jimmy Lee's side have rewarded with a home preliminary quarter-final after their 2-14 to 0-10 victory over London last Satuday.
One player that has impressed for Limerick in 2024 has been centre half back Cillian Fahy. Fahy has excelled in the number six jersey for the Treaty county. The Dromcollogher/Broadford clubman said that Limerick are delighted to have a home preliminary quarter-final.
"We are absolutely delighted. We were talking before the start of the group that we were targeting second place and that we wanted to get out of the group and get a home preliminary quarter-final and we've achieved that. It's massive that we will be back in Limerick."
Goals from Danny Neville and Paul Maher were crucial in Limerick's victory over London.
"I suppose we created a couple a goal chances. We didn't get too many chances during the league and we're delighted to get the two goals. They were key and they set us up for the second half and it meant London had to come out a little bit. The goals were crucial in getting over the line."
Limerick outscored their opponents 0-6 to 0-4 in the second half but Fahy feels Limerick will need to improve on their second half performance against Tipperary this weekend.
"We probably didn't push on as much as we would of liked in the second half with the wind behind us."
