WATCH: UL manager Brian Ryan reacts to their Fitzgibbon Cup Limerick derby win over TUS Midwest

HOLDERS UL booked their place in the Fitzgibbon Cup quarter finals with a 2-23 to 1-13 victory over TUS Midwest at Maguire's Fields. The result ensures that they have a home tie in the last eight.

Twelve points from Gearoid O'Connor, as well as goals from Sean Twomey and Mark Rogers set UL on their way. Limerick duo Conor O'Neill and Colin Coughlan chipped in with six points between them. TUS' scorer in chief was Robin Mounsey with 1-7 to his name.

TUS Midwest still have a chance of reaching the quarter themselves with a victory over ATU Galway from their final group game in Moylish next week.

Following the win, Leader Sport's John Keogh caught up with UL manager Brian Ryan who said that his side need to do a lot of improving if they are to reach the same heights of 2022.
