THOUSANDS of people from Limerick city and county flocked to Limerick Racecourse for the annual AMCS Limerick Show, today returning for its 93rd year.
The warm, dry weather drew large crowds to the event in Patrickswell, a far cry from last year's Show when attendees donned wellingtons and umbrellas.
This Sunday, August 24, there were over 1,000 competitors and 150 trade exhibitors at the Show which is one of the most highly-regarded agricultural events of the year.
With doors opening early in the morning and a consistent stream of people well into the evening, the fun of this year's Show was non-stop.

President of the AMCS Limerick Show, Leo Walsh, said the crowds were "pouring in" and that they had some fantastic exhibitions from cattle to horses, horticulture and poetry.
"It's the second year we have had the poultry and it has gone from strength to strength and I think it's a fantastic show and it's great to see. A lot of voluntary work went into it and the people, they're rewarded today." He added that the weather was a big help to draw crowds to the show this year.
Meanwhile, Deirdre Cusack from Mayorstone said there was a record number of entries for the dog show this year. "We're delighted that everybody has come out to support us." She added that the dog show's sponsor Treaty Vets provided wonderful prizes.
Deirdre also worked on the designated Kids Zone which offered face painting, Circus, Juggling, a Pet farm, Train rides along with live music, a fashion show, careers village and dog show, there was fun for all the family at the long-running event.
The Holman Lee Agency fashion show hosted by Celia Holman Lee showcased a number of local designers and shops including designers Ber McNamara and Caroline Mitchell and Shaws Department Store.
Celia said: "We always have a super fashion show...we have fabulous designers and amazing boutiques and stores from the whole area and of course the Best Dressed lady as well."
Dr Mary Ryan was crowned Best Dressed and wore a stunning long, blue dress from Brown Thomas and was delighted to take home a €500 voucher for the Crescent Shopping Centre.
There was no arts and crafts competition at the event this year but organisers are expecting this section will return next year. However, there was a display of arts and crafts from local special needs training centres in Limerick city, Dooradoyle and Lisnagry.
