Road closures in Limerick city due to Culture Night

MOTORISTS are being advised of disruptions due to this year’s Culture Night.

Culture Night will take place on Friday, September 18, resulting in road closures in Limerick city that evening.

A spokesperson from Limerick City and County Council said: “A temporary road closure will be in place on Wolfe Tone Street, Limerick City, to facilitate Culture Night and the unveiling of a plaque at Johnny Duhan’s birthplace.”

The late Johnny Duhan was a songwriter/musician born in Limerick in 1950 and grew up as part of a large family on Wolfe Tone Street. The Culture Night event will celebrate not only Duhan’s achievements as a singer, songwriter and author but the local influences that helped shape a body of work which travelled far beyond the streets where it began.

The roads to be closed are as follows:

Wolfe Tone Street from its junction with Lord Edward Street to its junction with O’Connell Avenue

Bowman Street to McNamara Terrace

Diversions via Lord Edward Street, Boherbuoy and Upper Mallow Street

No parking prohibition- if your car is already parked on Wolfe Tone Street before the closure, it can stay put.

The road closures will be in effect on Friday, September, 18 from 5pm to 10pm
