UL Student Life, the representative body for more than 1,900 students at the college, has outlined the role in a job specification, with applications being invited until Tuesday
THE students’ union at University of Limerick (UL) is seeking a financial controller on a salary of up to €75,000-per-year.
UL Student Life, the representative body for more than 1,900 students at the college, has outlined the role in a job specification, with applications being invited until Tuesday at 12 noon.
The controller, the union says, will have “responsibility for strategic and operational finance processes for the organisation and subsidiaries.”
They will be responsible for leading and delivering on its full finance function.
"The financial controller provides strategic financial leadership while also managing and delivering all operational finance activities. The role supports effective decision making by the general manager, senior management team and board through the provision of accurate financial information, analysis, forecasting and advice,” the job advertisement reflects.
The candidate will be asked to ensure financial sustainability, maintain strong financial controls and governance arrangements.
Earlier this month, it emerged that an internal review of UL’s student union’s processes concluded trust and transparency needed to improve and financial planning needed to be addressed as a matter of urgency.
A spokesperson for UL Student Life said the function of financial controller had been outsourced for a number of years, and creating this internal position was agreed by its board of directors as part of measures implemented over the past year.
