Councillor gives his two pennies' worth on bucket collections in Limerick village
Parish clubs and schools always need additional funds , says Adare-Rathkeale councillor
'I'M ALL for bucket collections held in Adare village, declared local councillor Ger Ward to Limerick Live.
He is pictured at a recent collection for soccer club Adare United in the village.
“These parish clubs and schools always need additional funds and having the chance to raise some money should be fully supported,” said Cllr Ward of Fianna Fail.
In September, gardai were being urged to pause the issuing of new permits for ‘bucket collections’ in Adare pending the opening of the bypass next Easter.
Cllr Bridie Collins, who lives in the village, made the suggestion in a formal motion which came before elected members of the Adare-Rathkeale Municipal District at their September meeting.
“We shouldn't be allowing unnecessary blockages,” said Cllr Collins as she proposed the motion.
The motion went unsupported.
