Treaty United goalkeeper Katherine Hess has been included in this week’s SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Team of the Week following the American’s display against Bohemians last week at the Markets Field.
The Shannonsiders shot-stopper was in fine form, keeping a clean sheet in a vital 1-0 win for Laurie Ryan’s charges, boosting their hopes of a top-three finish.
It took the home side just six minutes to hit the front, and they did so through American attacker Caroline Penner, who notched her third goal contribution in as many games.
The visitors almost drew level ten minutes after the restart as Sarah Power drilled a snapshot following an uncleared corner, but her low effort clipped the post before rolling wide of Katherine Hess’ goal.
Treaty almost grabbed a second late on. Lawlee delivered a lofted ball towards Sarah Rice at the back post, with Rachael Kelly failing to claim cleanly. The ball pinballed around the six-yard box before eventually flashing wide of the post.
There was little goal-mouth action to finish out proceedings with the hosts securing a vital three points.
Next up for Treaty is a trip to Eamon Deacy Park to face Galway United on Saturday September 5 at 5pm.
A win for Treaty could see them rise to fourth in the table, the clash will be broadcast live on LOITV.
