Jump for music: Musicale is a new festival for young performers

A MUSIC festival taking place at venues across the city’s Georgian Quarter is seeking to ‘enable the creativity of every child’.

Musicale, a new music festival for young performers, is part of the Creative Ireland programme for Limerick and takes place from November 24 to December 3.

The event was instigated by Music Generation Limerick City in association with the Limerick School of Music and has been developed in partnership with a number of music providers, including Croagh School of Music, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Musica Fusion and private teachers across the city.

A key element that makes the festival distinctive is that it is non-competitive. There will be no adjudicator, no grading, no marks, no winners and no losers.

Festival organiser Boris Hunka says “it is really exciting to bring all these young musicians together in an environment where they will not be graded, ranked or judged. The result will be a truly inclusive festival of music-making”.

The events will take place in Culture House, the Coach House, Limerick City Gallery, the Belltable and the Loft venue at the Locke Bar. Full listings are available on
