Inti Guerrero in Limerick Picture: Deirdre Power
EVA International – Limerick’s major art exhibition held every two years – is inviting artists’ proposals for 2018.
The 38th festival of art, across a number of locations in the city, is being curated by Inti Guerrero.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Inti is a young and highly acclaimed curator who is based in Hong Kong.
“I am deeply honoured to have been invited to be the curator of the 2018 edition of EVA International – Ireland’s biennial; a groundbreaking exhibition that has contributed to reimagining internationalisms," he said.
"I look forward to working with artists and the EVA team to develop the biennial program for the city, its audiences, and continuing the dialogue with previous appointed curators whom I hold in great regard,” he said.
Artists are asked to respond to “the current state” – which could be a reflection on the artist’s work, state of government, family, religion, or a reflection on how the state of today reminds you of the state of yesterday.
It will be open to the public from April 14 to July 8. The online application process is now open and closes at 12pm on Tuesday, January 31 next.
“Rather than a large-scale exhibition based on an over-arching theme, EVA 2018 will be made up of many exhibitions; a kaleidoscopic ecology of intertwining group shows which will combine various narratives across the city,” said the organisers in a statement.
