First premiered in 2008 at the Cork Opera House, the musical is the creation of the late Bryan Flynn, a playwright and director who passed away in 2014.

The work explores the political and personal journey of Michael Collins, dramatizing key moments from the 1916 Easter Rising, the War of Independence, and the Civil War, all set against the backdrop of a poignant love story.

Des Henn will direct the 2026 production, also overseeing production movement. LMS also welcomed Michael Young as Musical Director, who will lead the vocal and choral elements of the show.

In preparation for this ambitious staging, LMS is calling on local performers to get involved. An Information Evening will be held on Thursday, September 18 at 8pm in the Blue Gallery Ballroom at the People’s Museum, 2 Pery Square, Limerick.

Anyone interested in auditioning, whether for principal roles or as part of the ensemble, is strongly encouraged to attend the information evening.

For those looking to be part, whether seasoned performers or enthusiastic newcomers, LMS promises a rewarding and memorable theatrical experience.
