A YOUNG Limerick filmmaker from Carew Park, has just completed production on his debut feature film.

Devin Noonan, a former pupil of St Clements College and current Creative Broadcast and Film Production student at TUS, has written, produced, filmed, edited, and starred in his current project.

Titled I Fear the Man I’ve Become the film tells the story of John, a young man struggling with the death of his brother.

He sets out for revenge on those he believes are responsible, but as the lies mount, the truth about who really killed his brother becomes harder to grasp.

Limerick plays a starring role in the film as Devin was adamant that his home town serve as the backdrop for the story.

“Too often, Irish films are centred around Dublin, and places like Limerick don’t get the same recognition. I wanted to change that,” he said.

Devin explained how, “Representing Limerick on screen, showcasing its locations, and proving that films can be made here was always one of my main goals. It’s my home, and I’m proud to show it off in a way that audiences don’t normally get to see.”

Devin worked with a team of local talent both in front of and behind the camera. Jamie Barry, John O’Sullivan and Kenneth Barry all starred in the film with Eoin Moore on  sound while Jamie Burke served as cinematographer.

“My biggest hope is that people will watch it, enjoy it, and come away saying ‘wow’,” Devin said.

“I want audiences to see what can be done in Limerick, on a small budget, and with a team of young creatives,” he added.

Filmmaking has long been Devin’s passion. “I've always wanted to create for myself. It’s been my dream for as long as I can remember to not only see myself on the big screen, but to have a film of mine play in a cinema. This project is the first real step towards making that dream a reality.”

His love of filmmaking doesn't stop at just the storytelling, as Devin explained “We combined everything we had, pulled resources together, and made it work. That’s part of what I love about filmmaking, you don’t need a huge budget to tell a story, you just need creativity and determination.”

With I Fear the Man I’ve Become, Devin Noonan isn’t just telling a powerful story, he’s also making a statement about the creative potential of Limerick and the next generation of young Irish filmmakers.
