THE CHRISTMAS Racing Festival has been launched and is set to take place from St Stephen’s Day to December 29, at Limerick Racecourse.

Drawing crowds from near and far for exhilarating racing, entertainment and holiday cheer, the four-day festival is a highly anticipated staple of many people’s Christmas calendars.

The annual spectacle, which is once again sponsored by Mr Binman, will see an expected 20,000 people flock to the Patrickswell racecourse for four days of what is said to be an “unforgettable experience for all”.

CEO of Limerick Racecourse, Michael Lynch, said: “We are thrilled to be working with such great partners on what is the pinnacle of our racing year and indeed, we look forward to growing attendances significantly over the four days of racing and creating great memories and experiences for all our attendees.”

Each day will feature diverse attractions, finishing off the festival with a Family Fun Day on December 29, presented in association with the ISPCC.

There will also be shuttle buses running from Limerick city to the racecourse each day.

Kicking off the Christmas racing schedule on December 26, Big Boss Events are bringing the Big Boss Top to racegoers, adding a flair of festival fun to the day.

Ladies Day will take place on day two, with Holman Lee Agency models set to dazzle in a fashion show, showcasing local and regional boutiques. Later, Munster take on Leinster in a rugby clash between rivals which attendees can stay and enjoy at the racecourse.

Day three will see the prestigious Faugheen Grade 1 race, with prize money of €100k up for grabs. Some “amazing acts” are promised and are yet to be announced, to close out the evening.

A family fun day, in association with Horse Racing Ireland, will round off the festivities. Day four is set to be a blast for kids, with play and games areas, carnival rides, and more.

Mr Binman sales and marketing director, Joe Cleary, said: “Mr Binman is thrilled to sponsor the Limerick Racecourse Christmas Racing Festival, a partnership reflecting our shared commitment to a greener future.

“As part of this collaboration, we will proudly fuel the event's waste management vehicles with biogas generated by composting food waste.”
