HAVING worn a sequin, floor- length gown once, 10 years ago, I thought, why not wear it again for another sparkling occasion?
The annual Butterfly Ball at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Limerick was, once again, a shining event for such a wonderful charity that is the Mid-West Cancer Foundation.
I decided to up-cycle a navy dress which I had worn to a Rose of Tralee ball over a decade ago, and it shone just as bright the second time around! Irish designer Don O’Neill gifted me the glittery gown many moons ago, and I felt just as good in it now as I did then.
I attended the very first Butterfly Ball when it was established in 2007 and every year, it truly is a magical event. The charity itself is absolutely wonderful, and I look forward to attending the night when it comes around every year.
The style was show-stopping at the event, with the nurses and doctors looking stunning in their evening-wear and really putting in so much effort - what is better than getting fully ‘glammed’?
All the stops were pulled out and my heart is full of warmth as it is all in aid of a truly fantastic cause, which makes cancer patients’ lives much easier.
The Foundation helps so many people when they need it most, and their families.
The champagne reception and classical music upon arrival sets the tone for the night perfectly, as hundreds of guests flock to the hotel.
MC Nigel Mercier, Limerick native and well-known Fair City actor, was once again a fantastic host and kept us all entertained as we enjoyed a four-course dinner, a delightful meal.
Gifts and goodies were plentiful on the evening and, in true fashion, we struck a pose for the cameras!
I would like to congratulate Lisa Tracey, who organises the ball every year. The service, hospitality and camaraderie was out of this world.
