For those dawning their wellies this week for the National Ploughing Championship, Met Éireann's current indications suggest you might need to pack some sunglasses too! 

The National Ploughing Championship 2024 will be taking place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week in Ratheniska, County Laois. 

Today, the west will see a cloudier day, with the chance of some rain here and there. Highest temperatures today will range from 17 to 21 degrees in mostly light southeast to south breezes.

Tuesday is set to be dry with some sunshine throughout the day. Highest temperatures will range between 17 to 22 degrees, with light to moderate east to southeast winds. This means that it will be coolest in the east and warmest in the midlands and west - ideal for those heading to Laois!

Tuesday night will remain dry with lowest temperatures from 7 to 11 degrees.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are also set to be dry with sunny spells and light easterly winds. Temperatures will range between 17 and 21 degrees.

Night time temperatures will be down to 7 to 11 degrees with clear spells and light breezes allowing a little mist or fog around dawn.
