Met Éireann make one brutal 'unseasonable' prediction in forecast for Ireland

Met Éireann has made a startling prediction for very unseasonable weather for Ireland this week.

Unsettled weather will continue this week with unseasonable winds to hit as well as rain and scattered showers.

The Met Éireann outlooked predicts "mixed, changeable weather with spells of rain or showers interspaced with drier and brighter periods. Windy at times too, particularly later Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures generally below normal for early July, especially in the northwest."

In its latest forecast, forecasters say: "Mostly cloudy at first this afternoon [Monday], with patchy light rain or drizzle. This will gradually clear southeastwards through the rest of the day, allowing a few bright or sunny intervals to develop. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, warmest in the south and southeast, in moderate west to northwest winds.

"Largely dry tonight [Monday] with variable cloud amounts and clear spells, but generally cloudier in the north and northwest with a few showers. Cloud will increase from the west towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees. Light to moderate northwest breezes will become mainly light westerly or variable in direction overnight.

"Mainly cloudy on Tuesday, with occasional rain and drizzle. The best of any bright or sunny intervals will be over the southern half of the country. More persistent rain will develop in the north and west in the evening. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, coolest in the northwest, with light to moderate westerly winds."

"Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading eastwards to all areas in moderate southwesterly winds, increasing fresh to strong near coasts [on Tuesday night]. Patchy mist and fog also, mainly on hills and coasts. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.

"Damp or wet to begin on Wednesday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle clearing eastwards to a mix of sunny spells and showers in the afternoon. Becoming increasingly windy or blustery as the day goes on with moderate to fresh westerly winds increasing strong along western and northern coasts. Highest temperatures of 14 to 20 degrees, mildest in the east and south.

"Breezy with a mix of clear spells and scattered showers, mainly affecting the west and north with largely dry conditions further south and east [Wednesday night]. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with mostly moderate westerly winds fresh to strong and gusty near coasts.

"Thursday will be an unseasonably windy day with sunny spells and scattered blustery showers. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees with moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong to near gale along western and northern coasts.

"Current indications for Friday suggest a mostly cloudy start to the day with outbreaks of rain, most persistent in the south, clearing to sunshine and showers in the afternoon, some heavy in the north and northwest. Winds will be mainly light to moderate southwest or variable becoming moderate westerly in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees, coolest in the west and north."

They say next weekend will continued "showery and rather cool for the time of year."
