Latest Met Éireann forecast delivers some good news - but not for long

Don't put you umbrellas away just yet

Following several days of turbulent weather which saw a number of warnings being issued, the latest Met Éireann forecast suggests an improvement can be expected ahead of the weekend but that more rain is on the way.

While there will be a cloudy start to this Thursday with some outbreaks of rain and drizzle, any rain will become light and patchy in the afternoon.

In its latest forecast, Met Éireann says cloud will "break up allowing for decent spells of sunshine to develop with more widespread sunshine developing by evening".

Looking ahead, it says "dry and bright conditions" are expected in many places on Friday with highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees.

However,  a spell of rain will gradually track across the country on Saturday while scattered outbreaks of showery rain are forecast for Sunday.

Met Éireann says the early indications are that it will turn "more unsettled" again next week with spells of rain likely.
