Met Éireann reveals what's following Storm Isha on weather front and it's not good
Met Éireann have given their post-Storm Isha weather forecast for the week ahead and it's not good news.
After enduring wild conditions from Storm Isha on Sunday with Status Red and Orange weather warnings in place for most counties, Ireland looks set to remain in the grips of wet and windy weather.
Met Éireann's weather warnings for the entire country lapsed this morning but a Status Yellow wind warning for Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo remains in place until 7pm this evening.
It warns of "very strong and gusty westerly winds" with a number of potential impacts, including "large coastal waves with wave overtopping, difficult travelling conditions and debris, loose objects displaced.
Forecasters at Met Éireann say "today will remain breezy and blustery with some very strong gusts in the west and northwest."
"There will be sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy with a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms. Most places will become dry this evening as the showers become isolated. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds, very strong in the west and northwest.
"Mostly dry early tonight, with just isolated showers. Rain and drizzle will develop in the southwest and will spread northeastwards to all areas overnight. Breezy at first with a fresh to strong and gusty westerly wind. It will become calmer for a time, but then a fresh to strong southerly wind will develop later. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees."
In their outlook for the week, they say our weather will be "changeable with some further spells of wet and breezy or windy weather."
They added: "Most areas will be dry with sunny spells on Wednesday, apart from a few showers in the west and north. Winds will become lighter and temperatures will range between 7 and 11 degrees.
"Cloud will increase early on Wednesday night and outbreaks of rain will extend from the southwest to most areas overnight. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in a moderate southerly wind.
"Unsettled with spells of rain and showers through the day [on Thursday]. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with a moderate to fresh south to southwest wind.
"Rain clearing eastwards to mostly dry conditions on Thursday night, although a few showers will occur in the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees with a moderate to fresh westerly wind, easing light to moderate.
"Mostly dry with sunny spells [on Friday]. Cloud will increase in the west and northwest, bringing some showers. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in a light to moderate west to southwest wind."
Beyond that and looking to the weekend, they predict it will remain "unsettled with further spells of rain and breezy conditions at times."
