Limerick set to host a global summit for women in TV and film industry

The event will bring together executives from both on and off the screen, from all over the world

SENIOR executives from all the world's film and TV industry will flock to Adare next week for the first event of its kind in Ireland.

The 2026 Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI) will be in Adare from February 4-7 for a summit in Ireland for the first time.

The landmark event will bring together creative professionals both in front of and behind the camera, funders, broadcasters, commissioners, researchers, advocates, senior executives and thought leaders.

It will be hosted by Women in Film and Television (WFT), a registered charity.

The programme features speakers including Limerick's Ruth Negga, actor Aisha Tyler, and director Dearbhla Walsh.

Panellists will include representatives from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, TG4, the British Film Institute, Canada Media Fund, Nordisk Film and TV Fond, the Swedish Film Institute, and others.

Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD, said: “Ireland has a strong and growing international reputation for creative excellence, collaboration and innovation in film and television.”

He said this “is a significant moment for the sector, bringing global leaders to the Mid-West and reinforcing our commitment to gender equality, diverse storytelling and the future sustainability of the screen industries.”

President of WIFTI and WFT Ireland, Dr Susan Liddy added: “This summit is about connection, collaboration and leadership. We are bringing together voices from across the world to address equity, innovation, storytelling and the future of the screen industries, while showcasing Ireland’s talent, hospitality, rich landscapes and creative ambition on a global stage.”

The 2026 WIFTI Summit is supported by: Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán, TG4, Saffery, National Talent Academies, Film in Limerick, Limerick Enterprise Office, Screen Producers Ireland, Elephant Goldfish/Molinare Creative Group, Fáilte Ireland, Women in Film and Television UK, Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau, Canadian Film Fund, Wild Atlantic Pictures, and Creative Ireland.
