TREATY UNITED will be looking to bounce back from last week's opening round defeat to Cork City when they host Bray Wanderers in the First Division at the Markets Field on Friday night.

Treaty United were dealt a cruel blow at Turner's Cross on Friday night when Ruairí Keating struck in the 91st minute to earn the Leesiders a 1-0 win and secure all three points.

The Shannonsiders will be loking to get their first points on the board this season in Garryowen on Friday night when they welcome Bray Wanderers.

As well as a vital three points that are up for grabs, perhaps revenge will be on the minds of those at Treaty as it was Bray who ended the Limerick side's promotion dream last season.

A Justin Ferizaj goal in injury time gave the Wicklow men a 1-0 over Tommy Barrett's side in the First Division Play-Off final back in November.

Bray Wanderers too, will perhaps feel disappointed with their opening round display on Friday night. The ‘Seagulls’ were held to a 1-1 daw at home to Longford Town.

Paul Heffernan's charges will also be looking to pick up their first win of the new campaign with promotion no doubt on the minds of the Bray players and management team.

Following last week's defeat to Munster neighbours Cork City, Treaty manager Tommy Barrett said he was proud of his side's efforts.

"I'm very proud of the players, they did their best, they were fantastic for 90 minutes, they dug in there, had plenty of chances,” he told the club's Instagram social media channel.

"Cork are the strongest First Division team that we've had in a few years but we really put it up to them today.

"We probably should have been leading at half-time and we were disappointed not to be leading at half-time.

"In the second half, they had a few chances to be fair but I still think we had the best chance and I felt we deserved at least a draw and for an away performance maybe even a win but you don't always get what you deserve, I'm happy with the performance, disappointed with the result.

"We've got to make this performance count now, we've got to bring that to Bray and there are no easy games in this league.

"You have to be at 100% every game and go and get three points against Bray and get points on the board, that's what it is about, getting points on the board," he said.
