Tommy Barrett's men faced two stern tests in their last two games of the First Division regular season. In their penultimate game of the season and with a win needed, the Super Blues faced high-flying Bray Wanderers at the Markets Field.
Goals from Canadian Joe Hanson and Mark Byrne gave Treaty a vital 2-1 win as they headed into the final game of the season against Wexford at Ferrycarrig Park.
A win for the hosts would see them leap-frog Treaty into fifth and in the process, claim the final play-off position. A win or a draw for the Shannonsiders would be enough to see them into the play-offs.
The Garryowen-based side showed a real sense of maturity and resilience in the south-east, running out comfortable 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Mark Byrne and Patrick Ferry.
That win set up a two-legged play-off with fellow Munster side Cobh Ramblers. Treaty would host their Cork counterparts in the first leg at the Markets Field, a Joe Hanson header enough to give Barrett and co. a deserved 1-0 win.
Treaty would fall behind the in the second leg in St Colman's Park thanks to a Matthew Whelan strike in the 94th minute but like they had done in the previous weeks, Treaty weathered the storm and managed to equalise through Eoin Martin in the 106th minute.
The Limerick side were able to hold out and it set up a First Division Play-Off Final with Bray Wanderers in Athlone.
It was to be heartbreak for Treaty United against a side they had beaten at the markets Field a month prior. Justin Ferizaj's 90th minute strike saw the Wicklow men over the line on a day where Treaty rued missed chances in front of goal.
Although the year may have ended in heartbreak, there will be plenty for Treaty to build n as they head into 2026.
