TREATY United will look to build on their precious victory over Finn Harps at the Markets Field last week when hosting great rivals and high-flyers Cork City in a crucial Munster derby this Friday, 7.45pm.

Treaty boosted their promotion play-off hopes when defeating ‘Harps’ 1-10 at the Garryowen venue. The result saw eighth-placed Treaty move to within six points of the promotion play-off places.

Treaty manager Tommy Barrett was somewhat frustrated afterwards with the side's failure to convert more of the chances that came they way.

Barrett said: “I thought that game was the story of our season really. Throughout the year we’ve created a lot of chances in games, but we just haven’t been able to put teams away. Honestly, I’m disappointed we didn’t score more.”

Looking ahead to Friday's visit of league leaders Cork City to the Markets Field, Barrett said: “Look, Cork are like a steam train at the moment picking up wins.

“They don’t concede much and they are very solid with some great attackers, but look we'll be going to win the game next week and if we can’t get three points well be aiming for one.

“We are the only team that they haven’t beaten yet so they’ll be coming here to win, but so will we.”
