TREATY United manager Tommy Barrett was a happy man following his side's dominant 1-0 victory over Finn Harps at the Market’s Field on Friday evening, thanks to Enda Curran's 50th minute winner from the penalty spot.

Manager Tommy Barrett was pleased with the win, but felt the margin of the victory should have been bigger given the number of chances they created.

“I thought that game was the story of our season really,” Barrett told Leader Sport.

“Throughout the year we’ve created a lot of chances in games, but we just haven’t been able to put teams away. Honestly, I’m disappointed we didn’t score more.”

The result now leaves eighth-place Treaty just six points behind fifth-placed Harps who occupy the final promotion play-off spot in the table facing into the final third of the season.

However, Barrett’s charges now face the daunting prospect of welcoming runaway First Division leaders and arch-rivals Cork City to the Markets Field this Friday evening.

“Look, Cork are like a steam train at the moment picking up wins. They don’t concede much and they are very solid with some great attackers but look we'll be going to win the game next week and if we can’t get three points well be aiming for one,” Barrett said.

“We are the only team that they haven’t beaten yet so they’ll be coming here to win, but so will we. We know that if we can win two or three games in a row there’s no reason why we can’t push for the play-offs. We have to be at our best to win any game and we have to go for them and be attacking.”

Cork City secured a 2-0 home league win over Kerry on Friday night.
