Niamh Horan plays Belle, as the young woman who looks beyond appearances to find love in the unlikely beast, played by Fionn Spencer.

Over the past two decades, the school has boasted a strong tradition of stellar productions and this promises to be no exception.

Principal Rachel Hayes said: “The annual musical is one of the highlights of our school year. It is a true celebration of creativity, teamwork, and talent.

“What makes it so special is how it brings together every part of our school community - students, staff, parents, and local supporters - all working towards a shared goal.

“For many of our Transition Year students, this is a dream they’ve had since primary school, watching our matinee shows and imagining the day they would take the stage themselves.

“Now, that dream becomes reality, and I couldn’t be prouder of their dedication and courage. I know audiences are in for a magical experience.”

Producers Richelle Hurley, Naomi Nevin, Noreen O’Sullivan and Lydia Noonan have all been busy behind the scenes ensuring that there is a role for everyone, whether on or off the stage.

Ms Naomi Nevin said: “We have a gifted and hardworking cast of over 70 Transition Year students who have embraced the challenge of bringing this magical story to life.

“They have been rehearsing tirelessly since September, honing their singing, acting, and dancing skills.

“Our orchestra, made up entirely of our own students, is another incredible achievement and a testament to their talent.”

Staff members Suzanne Mortell, Caoimh Ryan, Ger Frawley and Michael John English have been busy creating the enchanting world around the beast’s castle for the stage and guiding students in the stage design and construction classes.

Costume design students have been under the tutelage of Clodagh Costello and Jean Fitzgerald, while Diarmuid McCarthy as stage manager has been busy readying the backstage crew.

The media production class, led by Stephanie Mullane, is capturing the behind the scenes magic and promoting the show throughout the school and local community.

The parents association will help on the show nights with front of house and the raffle.

The show is only possible thanks to the voluntary efforts of the parents association and the support from local businesses as sponsors.

Tickets are available now at www.gr8events.ie/beautyandthebeast or by calling 061-383173.

Prices are €15 for adults and €12 for students/OAPs and the John the Baptist Community School show is on February 13 and 14.
