THE Pat Cotter Memorial Tournament was hosted recently by Limerick junior soccer club Mungret Regional FC.
The tournament, who was the brainchild of Tony McNamara and Richie Burke (Junior Manager) featured four teams,
Killarney Celtic, Avenue United, Clonmel Town and hosts Mungret Regional.
Each team played two games with Killarney Celtic emerging as eventual winners after a keenly-contested final with Avenue United.
This tournament was held in memory of Pat Cotter who passed in 2019 and was the founder of the Mungret Regional club. He devoted most of his life to the Club.
Pat was well known as the face of Mungret Regional and he was always the first person to welcome visitors at the Club.
The late Pat Cotter also had strong connections with Desmond League where he refereed for several years and prior to his untimely death he had joined the committee of the Limerick District League committee where he served as Treasurer and was held in high esteem.
The beautiful Cup for the winners was sponsored by Tony McNamara, a lifelong member of Mungret Regional, and a close friend of Pat's. This Cup was presented to the captain of Killarney Celtic by Pat's son Brian who is a current player on the Mungret Regional Premier Division Team.
