Limerick All-Ireland winner to tee it up at Irish Open Pro-Am

Cian Lynch will join Joe Canning and Davy Fitzgerald in Lahinch

Limerick All-Ireland hurling winner Cian Lynch and Joe Canning of Galway will join former Clare hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald when a host of stars from the worlds of sport and entertainment tee it up in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Pro-Am on Wednesday July 3.

The Pro-Am will take place on the eve of the second Rolex Series event of the 2019 Race to Dubai, and the trio of hurlers become the latest sports superstars to be announced after Ireland and Munster rugby legend Paul O’Connell and former All-Ireland winning Clare hurler Shane O’Donnell were recently unveiled as the first names to be confirmed.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, which for the first time will be played over the spectacular Old Course at Lahinch Golf Club from July 4-7, is hosted by The 2014 Ryder Cup winning Captain Paul McGinley.

Joe Canning said; “I’m a big golf fan and although I don’t get to play too often, I’m really looking forward to taking part in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Pro-Am at Lahinch. It’s a great vibrant town especially in Summer and I can’t wait to get out there and play.”

The rest of the pro-am line-up will be announced over the coming weeks.

A star-studded field will descend upon Lahinch this July, including Tommy Fleetwood, Padraig Harrington, Russell Knox, Shane Lowry, Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen, Lee Westwood and Danny Willett, with further names to be announced over the coming months.

The European Tour is also giving one Munster primary school the chance to enter into a fun trick shot competition for the chance to win a VIP trip to this year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, while the winning participant will also have the tournament trophy visit their school for a day.

To enter the competition, parents and teachers are asked to submit the trick shot video online via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, name the school and location in the post and use the hashtags #DDFIrishOpen and #KidsTrickShot.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open takes place from the 3rd to the 7th of July. Tickets are available from www.dubaidutyfreeirishopen.com .
