Limerick FC defeat Kerry in the SSE Airtricity U19 League

The Limerick FC U19s defeated the Kerry League in their SSE Airtricity League fixture last weekend

LIMERICK FC U19s scored an impressive 2-0 victory over the Kerry League in the SSE Airtricity U-19 League Southern Division at Mounthawk Park on Sunday last.

Limerick started brightly and were applying pressure from the get-go, however they were unable to find the breakthrough.
Mark McInerney then forced the keeper into a superb save after a shot from the edge of the box was destined for the top corner.

Sheagh O’Connor went close with a driven shot from the right and Conlon also nearly found the back of the net but was unable to get his head to a ball flashed across the front of the goal.

Eventually the breakthrough came from Conlon when he powered through into the box and slotted low to the bottom right corner.

Limerick again started brightly in the second half looking to put the game beyond doubt with McGuire, McInerney and Joyce all getting shots off only to be denied by some excellent saves.

Kerry very nearly scored an equaliser when Limerick were caught on a counter attack only for Kerry to be unable to get contact on a ball drilled across the front of goal.

Lee Devitt then added another goal to his season’s tally so far for the Blues when neat footwork got him behind the Kerry defence and he calmly slotted low to the keeper’s right.

While Limerick were full value for this win, they will look to be more clinical in front going forward.

Limerick U19 are at home to Cabinteely next Sunday in Hogan Park with a 2pm kick off.
