Munster coach Johann van Graan gives update on Joey Carbery's fitness

Munster out-half Joey Carbery

MUNSTER head coach Johann van Graan gave a positive update on the fitness of out-half Joey Carbery ahead of Saturday's mammoth Heineken Champions Cup clash with Edinburgh.

Van Graan said he is 'confident' the Ireland international will be fit to face Edinburgh in the quarter-final clash at Murrayfield which kicks-off at 12.45pm, Live Virgin Media 1, Channel 4 and BT Sport.

Carbery has not played since featuring for Ireland in the Six Nations clash away to Scotland after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Speaking at Munster's pre-Champions Cup quarter-final media briefing at their High Performance Centre base at UL this Monday, van Graan said of Carbery: "He (Joey Carbery) will be reintegrated into training this afternoon and we'll see how it goes, but I'm confident he'll be ready for Saturday.

"He wants to play and wants to be fine, so hopefully, he's available."

Saturday's game in the Scottish capital will be a record 18th Champions Cup quarter-final for Munster.

Munster’s full Ireland contingent have now returned to the squad ahead of the knockout clash.
