Beauden Barrett - Can he lead the Hurricanes to Super Rugby glory
THE eagerly-awaited 2019 Super Rugby tournament kicks off this Friday 15 February.
There are 18 regular rounds of Super Rugby this season with the knock-out stages beginning on the weekend of June 22.
The Crusaders, who include Ronan O’Gara in their backroom team, have a massive target on their back in 2019 as they seek a three-in-a-row of Investec Super Rugby titles.
The Crusaders open their campaign away from home against the Blues at Eden Park this Saturday, February 16.
With 16 wins in the 23 year history of the competition, it is unsurprising that the top three places in the betting are all filled by New Zealand sides.
Defending champions, the Crusaders, head the betting at 5/2 with the Hurricanes available at 7/2 and the Highlanders next best at 6/1.
South African side, the Lions, are also available at 6/1.
The Hurricanes have a new coaching staff with the experienced John Plumtree joined by former All Blacks star Carlos Spencer.
Guided by All-Blacks TJ Perenara and Beauden Barrett in their backline, expect the Canes to mount a strong challenge for the title.
