Limerick Institute of Technology played host to FAI ETB trainees past and present last week where they visited the campus, while also managing to squeeze in a game of football too.
Operating in Limerick since 2009, the FAI ETB Player Development Programme caters for 24 aspiring young footballers each year, matching the experience of full time football with a QQI Level 5 qualification in Sports and Recreation.
The FAI ETB Player Development Programme attends open days for many of the country’s third level institutions as a way of opening doors into further education for its learners.
LIT always go the extra mile to welcome the Kilmallock Road based course and this year was no different.
The cold weather didn’t affect the players though, as the home side’s men’s soccer team played out a high scoring friendly against the FAI’s class of 2019.
FAI ETB Limerick Coordinator Trevor Lovell said
“The visit to LIT is an important date on our calendar every year. It shows our players that we have a high quality educational option right on our doorstep and the faculty here always do everything they can to ensure our time here is enjoyable.”
