Over €65k raised for 'devoted Limerick husband and father of 10 beautiful children' after multiple strokes

Husband and dad Ronan Gilbourme with his family. Feenagh Kilmeedy has come together to help ease financial pressures at this tough time

FATHER of 10 Ronan Gilbourne has given so much to Feenagh-Kilmeedy that when he fell seriously ill, locals responded in kind.

Feenagh AFC have initiated a fundraiser for Ronan who is a long-serving clubman. A Go Fund Me page, which was set up at the beginning of the month, says that he was hospitalised after suffering a number of strokes.

“As a result of this he has been unable to work for a number of weeks and will remain off work for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately Ronan has a long road ahead of him to recover from this setback,” reads the appeal.

Ronan is described as “a devoted husband and father of 10 beautiful kids”.

“He is the main source of income for the family. He is well known for being a great community man in Feenagh Kilmeedy, most notably for his long standing involvement with the soccer club, as well as the GAA club and the Full Moon Rising committee.

“Any donations received to help the family at this tough time would be most gratefully appreciated,” reads the Go Fund Me.

Feenagh AFC, Full Moon Rising Festival and Feenagh-Kilmeedy GAA and Camogie Club have donated €5,500 between them.

The response has been phenomenal with the total raised standing at over €65,000 on Thursday.

The Gilbourne family wished to thank all who have reached out with support and best wishes. If you wish to donate, click here
