Attendees of the exciting launch at St Michael's Rowing Club this week
Rowing Ireland in conjunction with the Limerick Sports Partnership and St Michael’s Rowing Club have this week announced the launch of a pilot Get Going, Get Rowing programme to a group of learners from Enable Ireland.
This programme will run in St Michaels Rowing Club over the next number of weeks. The programme offers the young rowers a chance to learn and practice rowing technique on an indoor rowing machine in a relaxed fun environment.
It suits people with wide range of abilities as it is a seated activity, yet offers exercise of almost every muscle group, is non impact and can be done at a variety of intensities or strengths.
As it's the first programme of its type to be offered in Limerick, it will be reviewed to assess its value with a view to growing participation levels in the future.
The Limerick Get Going Get Rowing programme has a number of upcoming events in the next few weeks with the 3rd annual indoor blitz featuring third level students from all over Ireland being held on February 14 at the University of Limerick Arena.
Details of upcoming events can be found on our website www.get goinggetrowing.com.
Pictured with the new rowers are Asia Pasinska of Enable Ireland, the Get Going Get Rowing coaches Donal O'Byrne, Sheila Clavin and Ger Tuite, Brian Richardson, St Michaels Rowing Club Captain, and Liam Cantwell of Limerick Sports Partnership.
