Munster players Dave Kilcoyne, Dan Goggin, Mike Haley and Chris Farrell celebrate Saturday night's Heineken Champions Cup win over Exeter at Thomond Park
POOL 2 winners Munster will face a trip to Edinburgh for the quarter-finals of this season’s Heineken Champions Cup at the end of March.
Munster secured their place in the knock-out stages of the competition for the 18th time in 21 seasons when squeezing past Exeter Chiefs in a white knuckle ride of a game at a sold-out Thomond Park on Saturday night.
The two-time winners missed out on a home quarter-final after finishing in fifth spot in the rankings for those sides which progressed to the last eight.
Instead, Johann van Graan’s charges must travel to the Scottish capital to take on Guinness PRO14 rivals Edinburgh at Murrayfield for a high stakes Champions Cup quarter-final clash on the weekend of March 29-31.
The exact date and kick-off time for the game will be confirmed in the coming days.
Heineken Champions Cup quarter-finals:
Edinburgh v Munster
Leinster v Ulster
Racing 92 v Toulouse
Saracens v Glasgow
