Former Athlone Town player Ian Fletcher has signed for Pike Rovers PIC: Pike Rovers Twitter
LIMERICK junior soccer side Pike Rovers have confirmed the signing of former Athlone Town SSE Airtricity League player Ian Fletcher.
Twenty two-year-old Fletcher, who has also played for Longford Town, featured for Athlone Town in the First Division of the SSE Airtricity League last season.
Fletcher is a talented midfielder, who played at U19 level for Athlone Town, before making his Airtricity League league debut for the Midlanders in August 2015.
In January 2017, Fletcher signed for Alan Mathews at Longford Town, before later returning to Athlone.
Welcoming Ian Fletcher to Pike Rovers, the club tweeted on Tuesday night, “We're delighted to welcome former @AthloneTownAFC player @Fletch96_ to the club. Ian will be a great addition to the squad & look forward to seeing him wearing the Hoops!”
Pike Rovers currently sit four points behind leaders Janesboro in the local PJ Matthews Premier League, although the Hoops have a game in hand on the table toppers.
Pike defeated Geraldines 5-4 on penalties after the sides finished level 2-2 in the Lawson Cup on Sunday last.
