Castletroy Golf Club's Chloe Ryan has qualified for the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup with a win at the R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament in St Andrews.

Ryan carded a -4 total of 218 to win the tournament by two shots from Gemma Batty of Scotland. The golfers played two rounds at the Eden course, before completing the tournament at the famous Old Course, the home of golf.

It was an Irish one two, as the mens event was won by Ronan Mullarney from Maynooth.

Ryan and Mullarney will now represent the 'Rest of the World' at the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup. The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played July 6-8 at Evian Resort Golf Club. The 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup will be the first using the expanded format of United States men’s and women’s collegiate golfers versus their counterparts from around the world.
