Limerick FC bolster squad with signing of winger Billy Dennehy

Limerick FC have announced the signing of former St Patrick's Athletic winger Billy Dennehy

NEW Limerick FC manager Tommy Barrett is wasting no time in increasing the size of his squad ahead of the start of the new season with the club announcing their third signing in the space of just 24 hours.

Limerick FC confirmed the signing of experienced winger Billy Dennehy this Thursday. Thirty-year-old Dennehy, who was most recently with St Patrick's Athletic, was twice a League winner with Shamrock Rovers.

Dennehy will wear squad number 20 with Limerick FC this season.

Limerick FC also confirmed via Twitter that the ‘club hope to be in a position to announce further additions to the squad by the weekend.’

News of Dennehy’s arrival comes hot on the heels of Limerick announcing the signing of striker Connor Ellis, from Cork City on Wednesday.

Ellis has joined Limerick FC for the next two seasons, having partaken in pre-season training with the Super Blues at UL.

Ellis is from Kealkil in West Cork and he played against Limerick last season in the Cork side's 2-1 loss at the Markets Field in September.

Limerick also confirmed the signing of midfielder Eoin Wearen from Bohemians on Wednesday.

The exciting Wearen ruptured his cruciate ligament in pre-season training with the Bohs 12 months ago and only returned at the tail end of last season.

Limerick FC play their first pre-season friendly fixture of 2018 against Galway Utd at UL’s 4G soccer pitch on Saturday night, 6.30pm when new manager Barrett will take charge of the Blues for the first time in a game.

Limerick FC’s opening SSE Airtricity League Premier Division fixture of 2018 is now just over four weeks away. The Blues face Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds on Saturday. February 17.
