Simon Zebo, left, celebrates scoring a try with team mate Andrew Conway with the Champions Cup win over Leicester Tigers at Thomond Park on Saturday
LEICESTER Tigers’ Welford Road ground has been covered with a blanket of snow ahead of next Sunday’s crucial Champions Cup pool fixture with Munster, 5.30pm.
Three inches of snow fell at the big match venue on Saturday night as a cold snap gripped England.
However, there are no fears over Munster’s Pool 4 fixture with the Tigers this weekend as the weather in the UK is set to get milder in the coming days.
Head groundsman at Welford Road, Ed Mowe said the snow covering would be left on the pitch to protect it from the frost which was forecast for last (Monday night).
Mowe added that the temperature is expected to rise on Wednesday and bring with it a thaw.

Stuart Farmer, rugby statistician with Leicester Tigers, as well as for the 6 Nations, the Lions, Aviva Premiership and Guinness PRO14 explained that December 30, 2000 is the only postponement due to weather of a game at Welford Road since 1996.
Munster will be looking to complete a big home-and-away double over the Leicester Tigers in the Champions Cup this weekend having thumped the Aviva Preiership side 33-10 at Thomond Park on Saturday night.
Pool 4 table toppers Munster are currently four points ahead of second-placed Castres Olympique and five points clear of third-placed Leicester Tigers.
Sunday evening’s game will be live on BT Sports 2.
