Calvin Nash added to Munster's European Champions Cup squad

RISING star Calvin Nash has been added to Munster’s European Champions Cup squad ahead of Saturday’s crucial Pool 4 clash with Leicester Tigers at Thomond Park.

Nash replaces South African centre Jaco Taute who is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to a knee injury.

Munster’s Ireland centre Chris Farrell is set to be sidelined until the New Year after sustaining a medial ligament sprain in his knee in Saturday’s autumn international with Argentina. 

Munster Academy player Calvin Nash was introduced as a second half replacement in Munster’s Guinness Pro14 bonus point win over the Ospreys at Musgrave Park on Saturday night.

Twenty year-old former Crescent College Comprehensive star Nash scored his first senior try for Munster the previous weekend during the province’s bonus point win over Zebre in Italy.

Nash made his Pro14 for Muster debut when starting on the wing away to Edinburgh in February 2017 and won his first Ireland U20 cap against Italy the following month, going on to captain the side against France, Wales and England.

The Young Munster clubman was one of the standout performers for Ireland at the World Rugby U20 Championship in Georgia last summer, scoring tries against Italy and Samoa.

Meanwhile, Munster have also confirmed that UCC prop Rob O’Donovan has joined the Academy having played in the B&I Cup for Munster A and also represented Munster at age-grade level.

Third year Academy player JP Phelan, of Garryowen FC, has departed the Academy, is has been confirmed.
