New head coach Johann van Graan arrives at Munster

New Munster head coach Johann van Graan arrives at the province this week

MUNSTER’s new head coach Johann van Graan joins up with the province today after completing his time with South Africa.

Van Graan presented the South African players with their match jerseys ahead of their autumn international victory over France in Paris on Saturday evening.

Tweeting about van Graan’s departure from the Springboks, the South African Rugby Union wrote: “Johann van Graan, the Springbok lineout coach, presented the team with their match jerseys on Friday in Paris. He joins Munster from next week after a six year stint with the Boks.”

Van Graan will take charge of Munster for the first time in their Guinness PRO14 clash with Zebre at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi on Sunday at 1.30pm Irish time.

Munster currently sit in second place in the PRO14 table, 12 points behind leaders Glasgow Warriors. While Munster have won five of their opening eight fixtures this season, Zebre sit second-from-bottom in Conference A after recording two wins from their opening eight fixtures.

Meanwhile, Munster report that ticket sales for their crucial Champions Cup clash against Leicester Tigers at Thomond Park on Saturday, December 9, 7.45pm, have surpassed the 20,000 mark.
