Limerick rivals battle for Munster Senior Cup semi-final spot

WITH the Ulster Bank League taking a break this weekend due to the start of the British and Irish Cup, the Munster Senior Cup takes centre stage on the club front.

Just three Limerick sides have reached the quarter-final stage of the competition, with two of them playing each other at the last eight stage of the Cup.

Last season’s beaten finalists Young Munster will host Shannon at Tom Clifford Park on Saturday, 2.30pm.

Munsters have made a decent start to AIL 1A, sitting third in the table after the opening four rounds. Saturday’s opponents Shannon are rooted to the foot of the 1B table and are still seeking their first win in this season’s AIL.

Old Crescent’s scheduled Munster Senior Cup quarter-final away to Cork side Highfield has been postponed.
