LIMERICK’S two remaining representatives in this season’s FAI Senior Cup have both been drawn away from home in the third round of the competition.
Runaway First Division leaders Limerick FC face a difficult tie away to Premier Division St Patrick’s Athletic.
Meanwhile, local junior side Janesboro have been draw away to First Division UCD at the last 16 stage of the competition.
John O’Flynn bagged a hat-trick as Limerick FC booked their place in the third round of the FAI Cup thanks to a 5-2 win over Bluebell Utd at the Markets Field in May.
Limerick FC will hope this win is a good omen as the Blues also defeated the Leinster Senior League side in their opening fixture on route to their last FAI Cup win in 1982.
While Limerick are runaway leaders of the First Division, their FAI Cup opponents St Pat’s currently sit in seventh place in the Premier Division.
Janesboro avenged their semi-final defeat to eventual FAI Junior Cup winners Sheriff YC when overcoming the Dubliners 2-1 in the second round of the FAI Senior Cup at Pearse Stadium in May.
Second half goals from Aaron Nunan and Aidan Hurley saw the Boro become the first side to defeat Sheriff last season.
The Boro had overcome another Dublin side, St John Bosco 4-2 in the opening round.
Janesboro’s next Cup opponents UCD sit third in the First Division table, 21 points behind leaders Limerick.
The draw was made in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, this Friday with Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill conducting it.
