Limerick intermediates ease past Tipp to reach Munster final

RESILIENT Limerick set up a Munster intermediate hurling final showdown with Clare next month after proving two points too good for a fancied Tipperary side in their provincial semi-final clash at a wet Semple Stadium yesterday.

Goals in either half from David Dempsey and Pa Ryan proved crucial as Limerick took a giant step towards a first Munster title at this level since 2008.

Ryan’s goal, scored five minutes into the second half, was especially key as it arrived just as Tipperary appeared to have gained an important initiative having drawn level.

This was Limerick’s second successive win over Tipp in this grade.

Should Limerick overcome Clare in the Munster final on July 6, the Shannonsiders will advance directly to the national final as just Kilkenny, Wexford and Galway entered to compete in the Leinster IHC.
