Malachi Boateng scored a 90th-minute leveller as play-off-chasing Plymouth twice hit back to draw 2-2 with relegation-threatened Exeter at a windswept Home Park.
Boateng netted in a goalmouth scramble after goalkeeper Jack Bycroft kicked the ball at him as City failed to clear a Xavier Amaechi cross, which was helped on by Alex Mitchell.
The last-gasp goal came just three minutes after Jayden Wareham had put Exeter 2-1 up.
Plymouth had the better of the first half as Bycroft made a brilliant full-stretch save to keep out Lorent Tolaj’s angled strike in the 34th minute before flapping the ball away to deny Boateng and then Owen Oseni in the 45th minute.
Owen Dale’s 47th-minute cross skidded off the top of Bycroft’s crossbar, but Exeter went in front a minute later when Ilmari Niskanen put Reece Cole in on goal and he clipped the ball past Conor Hazard from eight yards.
Argyle levelled in the 79th minute when top scorer Tolaj nodded home after a Ronan Curtis corner was headed back across goal by Exeter substitute Josh Magennis.
The visitors went 2-1 up in the 87th minute when top scorer Wareham spun on a Niskanen knock-down from a throw-in, but their joy was short-lived as Boateng pounced to rescue Plymouth.
