Dan Creaney scores winner for Tamworth against former club Solihull

Dan Creaney hurt his former club as Tamworth made it three straight Enterprise National League wins with a 1-0 home victory over Solihull.

In an evenly-matched first half, Solihull enjoyed two solid chances to score, Joe Sbarra’s shot bouncing off Joe Rye before hitting the bar while defender Daniel Cox roamed forward to blast just wide before the break.

It was Tamworth who took the lead, though, former Moors man Creaney nodding home Teo Kurtaran’s cross when Solihull failed to clear their lines in the 56th minute.

Alex Whitmore and Callum McFarlane combined well to threaten an equaliser with 15 minutes remaining but the latter’s finish sailed way over the target.

Creaney came closest to providing another goal as he tested Laurie Walker’s diving skills in stoppage time.
