Declan Howe made an immediate impact on his return from loan as Scunthorpe extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 2-1 win to boost their National League play-off hopes at Halifax’s expense.
The visitors opened the scoring just 11 minutes in as a poor back-pass was gathered by Pat Jones, who took the ball round Halifax stopper Sam Johnson to slot into an empty net for his first goal for the Iron.
However, Halifax responded 12 minutes later as Will Harris nodded into the top left corner.
Substitute Howe, recalled this week from a spell at Altrincham, restored Scunthorpe’s lead 82 minutes in as Callum Roberts crossed for him to head home the winner.
