Enzo Fernandez remains focused on finishing the campaign at Chelsea and taking his form into the World Cup with Argentina before giving any thought to future plans amid links with a move to Real Madrid.
Fernandez, 25, has been one of the standout performers of what has largely been an indifferent campaign for the Blues, with Liam Rosenior taking over as head coach in January following the departure of Enzo Maresca.
Rosenior remains confident Fernandez is happy at Stamford Bridge, with the Argentinian still having five years to run on the deal he signed when joining Chelsea in 2023 for what was then a British record fee of £107million.
Fernandez has headed off on international duty, which will see Argentina play friendlies against Mauritania and Zambia in Buenos Aires after the Finalissima was cancelled as a result of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Asked by Argentina sports channel TyC Sports about speculation linking him with Real Madrid following his arrival, Fernandez said: “Nothing, zero talks (with Real).
“I am focused on Chelsea, what is left of the season, and after the World Cup we will see.”
Fernandez hopes to make the most of his time in Argentina, despite the showpiece match against European champions Spain, which had been scheduled to take place in Qatar on March 27, not going ahead.
It is with great disappointment that we confirm the cancellation of the 2026 Finalissima, due to circumstances and scheduling constraints that made the match impossible to reschedule.

“Obviously I would have liked to play the Finalissima, to represent my country in a final,” Fernandez said.
“Because of the problems that happened, it couldn’t be played, so now we have to enjoy the friendlies with my team-mates.
“I would like it to be played in the future. It is a final and hopefully we can play it.”
Chelsea were beaten 3-0 at Everton on Saturday – a fourth straight defeat in all competitions having been soundly beaten by Paris St Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League.
